NEW -The
first document is a statement of permission signed by her Father, Rezin
Baker. I normally do not receive a document as this, so to me it would imply
that she was under the legal age (Comment and file supplied by Rosalie
Graham) - I have done some initial research and it would seem that Nancy
Baker was the daughter of Reason/Rezin Baker and Nellie Roberts.

|
NEW -This
is the bondsmen statement signed by Micajah Pennington and Edwin
Baker. There seems to be some data on the web about Edwin Baker.
He was b. 20 Nov 1785 in NC and appears to be Nancy's brother. Edwin
was married to Sallie Roberts and was the father of some 12 children.
Rezin Baker appears in the tax records in Madison Co., KY in 1789. If
Nancy is under 16 in 1812 when she marries, then she was probably born
around 1797. She would probably be married to Micajah Pennington III
and not Micajah, Jr. (document provided by Rosalie Graham.) |

NEW -Source: Minister's Returns citing
the marriage of Pennington to Baker as found in Madison County, Kentucky,
Marriage Certificate Book 1 (1787- 1843, on page 107, on record in the
Madison County Clerk's office, Richmond, KY. (document provided by Rosalie
Graham.)

It was recorded in Book A, Pg. 305. |

This is a land document that was
recorded on 20 Feb 1800. It is a land grant to Ephraim Pennington.
It was recorded in Book B, Pg. 428. I am not sure what the
relationship is to the Group 7 Penningtons. Ephraim could be Micajah
Pennington's brother, or cousin. There is certainly a relationship of
some type. |
|
This land grant document is
located on the following page after the document above. It could be
talking about the same piece of land. Nevertheless, it was recorded on
15 Nov 1803 and is granted to Ephraim Pennington. |
|
This records a sale of a piece of
land between David Worth and Levi Pennington. The sale was recorded on
11 Aug 1857. However, if you look in the note near the bottom - there
is a mention of a probate court. Is this an accurate date for Levi
Pennington's death? This would be the Levi Pennington who is the son
of Levi Pennington and grandson of Micajah Pennington. The best date
we have right now is after 1870. |
|
This land deed documents a sale
of land between Elijah Pennington and Nathan Eastrage. It was recorded
on 28 Sept. 1869. I am not sure which Elijah Pennington this is...I
would guess that he is the son of Levi Pennington (II). Nathan is the
husband of Edy Pennington, Elijah Pennington's sister. She is probably
no longer alive when this was recorded. Nathan Eastrage died in 1885.
The document is in Book W - Pg, 200. |
|
Harvey Pennington is the son of
Levi Pennington and Elizabeth Hinson (Anderson is another possibility for a
surname.) He was married to Esther Little. I believe that this
sale of land between Levi Pennington to Harvey Pennington is between two
brothers, not father and son. It was recorded in Book Z, Pg. 229.
